Nick Hennies (b. 1979) is a percussionist and composer from Louisville, KY currently residing in Austin, TX. His work is primarily concerned with redefining and repurposing the role of traditional percussion instruments through meditation, repetition, and immersion. In addition to his solo work he currently performs with The Weird Weeds, Waco Girls, and the Austin New Music Co-op. He received his M.A. from University of California-San Diego where he studied with world-renowned percussionist Steven Schick and has worked with a wide range of composers and performers including Arnold Dreyblatt, Radu Malfatti, Michael Pisaro, Greg Stuart, David Gross, Rick Reed, Ellen Fullman, and Jandek.
